Jennie S. Redling, Dramatist

 

JENNIE REDLING, 2007 winner of BMI’s Jerry Harrington Musical Theatre Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement as a Librettist, is also the national recipient of the Stanley Drama Award, and the Arlene R. and William P. Lewis Playwriting Award for Women. Ms. Redling’s plays have been read or produced in NYC and nationally at Soho Rep, Ensemble Studio Theatre, the Mint Theater, Mefisto Theatre Company for the New York Fringe Festival, Abingdon Theatre Company, Urban Stages, The Barrow Group, the Globe Theatre, Buffalo’s Alleyway Theatre, Louisville’s Juneteenth Legacy Theatre, and others.

Ms. Redling is a 2010 winner of the R. Joyce Whitely Arenafest of new plays at Karamu Theatre in Cleveland, a recipient of two New York State Foundation for the Arts grants and finalist in Firehouse Theatre’s 2009 Festival of New American Plays, Maxim Mazumdar's New Play Competition, Arts & Letters Prize for Drama, the Actors Theatre of Louisville Ten-Minute Play Competition and The Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center’s Summer Conference twice. Her monologues and scenes are published in Smith & Krause’s "Audition Arsenal for Women in Their 20's; 101 Monologues by Type," JAC Publishing’s "InterJACtions: Monologues at the Heart of Human Nature," and Smith & Kraus’s "Winners' Scenes for Kids and Teens."

Ms Redling is a trained Sanford Meisner audition coach and is also a certified rape crisis counselor with Rockland Family Shelter Sexual Trauma Services. She is a member of BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Librettist Workshop, the Dramatists Guild of America, Inc., Actors Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild.
